If you run an HVAC company and you're not getting leads from Instagram, it's almost certainly not because Instagram doesn't work for HVAC. It's because most HVAC companies post the wrong things.

After managing social media for dozens of heating and cooling businesses, we've identified five content types that consistently drive phone calls and booking requests. Here they are.

1. The Before/After Service Shot

Nothing builds trust faster than showing your actual work. A photo of a grimy, neglected air handler alongside a cleaned, serviced unit tells a homeowner everything they need to know. Add a caption explaining what you found, what you did, and why it matters to their comfort and energy bill.

💡 Caption Formula

"We found [problem]. Left untreated, this causes [consequence]. Here's what we did to fix it — and why your system will thank you this summer. Call us if you haven't had a tune-up this year: [phone number]."

2. The Seasonal Warning Post

Homeowners don't think about their HVAC until it fails. Your job is to remind them before that happens. A post that says "Dallas temperatures hit 105°F this week — here are 3 signs your AC is about to struggle" will get saved, shared, and acted on.

3. The 5-Star Review Graphic

Take your best Google reviews and turn them into branded graphics. A quote from a real customer about your fast response time, fair pricing, or knowledgeable tech is more persuasive than any ad you could write. Post one every week.

4. The "Meet the Team" Story

People hire people they trust. A simple photo of your tech with their name, years of experience, and a fun fact makes your company feel human. "This is Marcus — 12 years in HVAC, dad of three, and the guy who once drove 2 hours on Christmas Eve to fix a family's furnace."

5. The FAQ Carousel

Answer the questions your customers ask most — what SEER rating means, when to replace vs. repair, how often to change filters. These posts get saved constantly and position you as the local expert. Every save is a warm lead who'll think of you when the time comes.

"The HVAC businesses seeing the most social media ROI aren't talking about themselves — they're genuinely helping homeowners understand their systems."

How Often Should You Post?

Minimum three times per week on Instagram. Mix these five formats across your calendar — one before/after, one review, one educational piece per week is a strong foundation. Add a seasonal warning post whenever weather makes it relevant, and a team feature once or twice a month.

Consistency matters more than perfection. A slightly imperfect photo posted on schedule will always outperform a beautiful one that never goes live.
